     WALT: Use compensation

Purpose: To teach other people how to use the compensation strategy.

Process: At the moment we are focusing on the Compensation  strategy.  To start with, our maths group worked together to learn the strategy.  Then we had a go by ourselves trying to use the strategy for each problem.  We shared our answers back with the group to discuss what the answers were.  

 What I Learnt: I learnt that it is easier if you change your i.e. 9x18 change the 9 into the 10 and then all you do is add on a zero to that particular number.

Self assessment: I think I did well showing my working out but I am still not confer dent with the strategy, and I know that as a learner because I had to copy an example out of my book that my teacher helped me out with.

Peer assessment: Wow you have but a lot of information , you have but a lot of thought into your piece of writing. I think you have done very del into it. I now what you are doing in your maths. 

 Another Peer assessment: Well done I can see that you have tried to make your math sample the best it can be. I can see what you are trying to teach the people who want to know about compensation maths. Keep up the great work.                                                     Grace

Maths W4 SLC

WALT: multiply by using place value.

Task : In W4 we had to create a poster explaining how to multiply using place value. Georgia Aye and I created a poster to explain how to do it. We used words and a picture tot explain it.

Purpose: The Purpose we are learning this strategy is so that we can get faster working out bigger multiplication problems faster.

Process: First Elly explained to us how to work out these problems and she have us questions to answer in our book, once everybody had figured out  the answer she would ask us what we did first and what the answer was. When we got better Elly kept asking us these questions until we knew it of by heart.

What I learned: I learnt that when it is a three digit number, you have to take the first number and put to zeros on it at the end of that number. You don't do it for the other to numbers though.

Self assessment: I think we did really well to create a poster with my friends but, I think we should have maybe explained how to do and why you choose those numbers to multiply the numbers.

Self Assessment: I think a did a good job getting 6/10 but I think that I needed to show some off the answers that I got wrong so that the teachers can help me firguing out the answers.

We have been doing all of our SAME priorates this week so YAY we could do study ladder. I chose to  do it today here is the everdience. Also when I was doing my study ladder maths I was learning to x big numbers or multiply by 100.
