Free Writing Friday established Writing

I peered in. Roses, Tress, and grass covered the whole land. Emerged from the garden there were daffodils as bright as the sun with gleaming twinkles of light. I sighed “I wish some people would care for land”. I suppose people do get old sometimes. But this man could hire servants. I ran back into the house pretending that nothing had happened. As I made myself comfy on the couch, my body had a weird feeling. As soon as I had shut my eyes a whirl wind attacked my ears. I flung my head up and clinked to my couch. Bits of the roof were tumbling down. I felt as if I was’t alive or if I was alive every part of my body is disconnected completely. But No! A big tornado had whirled round the country like the sea when the waves are crashing down. I was speechless for a few seconds. I was worried. As worried as a big lion with  it’s legs chopped off! I was all worried about the garden. The Beautiful secret garden. What had happened to it I asked myself in a carless type of tone. I ran outside and carelessly tripped over a big hollow log. Agh! I shouted in a high tone. As I stumbled back up to my feet anxiety feel upon me as I could see the big black brick wall. All crumpled like paper and all shattered like a broken bottle glass.

A sudden tear dripped down my face as I whispered softly “ I loved that place as I started to feel like I was going to faint.” Suddenly I felt a drip slide down my  nose. I then started to wonder why is it that when something hit, the rain starts and does a million summer salutes before touching one another and then disappearing like Jack frost. After I get back into the realty of life I try to clamber over the big wall, to find the shock of a built  down forrest. As I felt the rain get substantial my hair started to whiz round in a big gush of thrill. As I walked around the garden I thought about all the things that might of happened if I was still asleep. What would have happened to the trees that dogs I declare Are so special and the opposite of not really very rear. But in other terms I would say that living plants are very very special in a different kind of way. As I jumped frantically around, a little blue flew onto my shoulder and hopped of. How very cool I thought to myself very quietly as quite as a tiny little mouse or on the other hand as quite as a tiny little fairy with no throat. And that is when the anxiety hit me. My eyes started to gleam as my arms through back and forth like a drunk person winning the drunk persons 7.8 kilometer sprint! As I roared round trying to catch the blue bird I then suddenly heard a sudden call. It was like the chirping of two baby robins having a race trying to catch up to the blue bird. They finally did. The robin in the middle had a beautiful pair of soft motley colored spots. At all times was he making a seen of himself and trying to approve h to the other baby blue bird that on the other hand wasn’t so glamorous. You could see by the look on the middle blue birds face was that he wanted to be in front and wanted every one to look at him and talk about him! After a few seconds of flapping his wings he scampered like a cat to the front of the line.

The red robin looked dis hearted. It was like he was saying “ I don’t want to be in the middle of a peanut butter toasty.” I’d rather be on the outside were can breath properly. And then, I wouldn't have to carry all the stuffing. I think i’d get two tired! The red robin the let the blue bird that was at the back go in font of him and he whirled like the wind into a hollow tree where she kept her beautiful blue spotty babies. They were cute. Well what happened was that the red robin had it’s feed and then opened her mouth to let the little blue birds peck in her mouth. Gross! It was like one of the babies was wanting to slither and slide like a slippery old snake. But no! After he had had the worm he did a huge jump backwards. Then as sudden as rain all of that family of birds flew away into the distance and after a couple of seconds: 1...2! I never saw them again. Well, well, well! As you might be thinking in your head have I still be walking around this shattered place?

Well Yes. As the rain has pored down like a howling hurricane I have been under a wrecked app;e tree. I have been climbing in this trochees weather all this time and now my head, my back, my arm acutely  it seems like every part of my body, I mean every part of it is itchy. To be honest with you even my toes. Well. I have climbed about half way and now I can see every thing. I can see apples and in some spaces they are a very deep brown. Some boring old birds are up in the tree next to me, franticly chirping wanting somebody to play  with them. I’m not playing with them. I’m thinking. I’m thinking about something serious. BecauseI care for this land I could maybe fix it up. I could maybe make friends with the plants. Agh!

Maybe not. They don’t talk! Sometimes I think about talking to plants and learning from them. Maybe we could live and learn together and I could grow a tight friend ship with all the plants. Well I joyfully said! “Work starts tomorrow.” As I jumped out of the tree, and grabbed the ladder I thought I heard a screech of words from the trees and the plants the over all land saying: “Good bye” see ya tomorrow! As I sprinted around the garden and up the 400 steps I was thinking about getting to bed quickly and trying to keep every thing a secret. Even the wall. As I reached the top of the steps I heard the faint calling Please come back
.I woke up sharply. And had breakfast and went outside to see the piece of land in my pajamas. As i scrambled over the wall to see the light shimmer brightly over the flowers and trees. In my surprise I saw that they had grown a center meter. In a destination that so fewer people new and only watered every so 100 hundred every years . As the say went on we had tea parties together as night fell I went inside and carried my bed all the way to the fence and slept on the outer side of the wall. But I shore woke up every few hours to check if they were all right. And till this day on wards I played with them until I grew older.

I’m now 80 years old and I have just dropped of my children to there new home. Which is the secret garden place. As I walked in the door photo people gathered around me. I’m famous I thought to myself. I ran through the crowd. And hopped outside grabbed a ladder and struggled to hop over the fence. 8 ran to give each and every flower a hug. My kids were embarrassed all because i’d never told them about it. As I left them I told them to care for the garden and water them every day. And they did. I think it will come back in lots of generations to come.  True from the author. I will always remember writing this story because it took me a long time and when it takes a person a long time you will remember it forever. And maybe ever again.

Big Sad Wolf

Following  Mondays successful launch of the ‘Hub’, today we hosted the NZ Playhouse group’s performance of the Big Sad Wolf. This was a great story highlighting oral and dramatic story telling, weaving several well known Fairy Tales together in a new and contemporary show. The children were enthralled and this performance will provide an opportunity for numerous follow up learning activities.
The show is another example of activities that provide the richness and depth to our learning program which is only possible through the activity fee, as it falls outside of the basic education that our operational funding provides.

Writing Sample

At 6.45 pm I sprinted right into the reagent. Plop! My foot touched the ground ant then all of a sudden I felt apprehensive. I bounced up the stairs and hopped straight into dressing room 6. Suddenly Stephen appeared and said "straight down to ukulele Hannah." Then it suddenly happened, a shock wave attacked me, and suddenly I'm off. Bouncing down the stairs I go and grabbing my ukulele. I suddenly stopped to a hault when I saw Jennifer in front of me. "Wait there Hannah and don't play." Yes I reply quietly. After a few minutes of waiting some of my friends arrive. We start playing our ukuleles although Jennifer told us not to!

Suddenly Jennifer comes back and says " I'm going on with the marimba group now line up against the wall." They went on and as they touched the stage I felt captivated my eyes fixed on the stage at every second. After the marimbas turn it was ours.

Jennifer ran of stage grabbed her uke and told us to line up in the half circles we were in before. While we were getting ready on stage the red velvet curtain was down. But very sudden after a blink of the eye the curtain went up the music started to play and so did we. I could see that every bodes eyes in the audience were fixed upon us! After we had played all the pieces the red velvet curtain came down again.

I skipped of stage talking to my friends. I wan'st in Kapa Haka so I hopped up the stars again slid round the corridor and stopped when I saw Grace with red painted cheeks. "Oh gosh!" I thought to myself do we have to wear painted cheeks I walked straight past Grace not saying a word. I slid round another corner until Jacqui said come her Hannah for painted cheeks. I went over feeling like I was in a different planet. I thought that I could see a tiny flesh of bight red stars. I stood still not blinking an eye while I could feel the tickling brush swish across my face. After a few seconds in my own planet I suddenly stepped out of it. I then grabbed Bella Georgia Grace and Rosalind and asked them if they would like to play a puzzle game. "Yes they all replied." We went into the corridor plopped ourselves on the carpet and played! After a while some other people sat dow and played with us. We had one last game until Stephen tells us to  come into the dressing room for a quick talk before we go down stairs for our performance. Fantastic! I thought sarcastically, who wants Stephen ruining our game. I went into the changing room were the whole class was sitting. Stephen told us all the things that had said to us before. It was so boring listing to him speck! Go. Suddenly I here a big clatter of people running down the stairs and then I suddenly relies it's show time.

I wait in the curtains felling a bit nervous what if I make a mistake, and then I suddenly see room 14  has just ran of stage and then we run on!

The RSS presenters talked for a little bit and then ran of stage the music started to play and we were of dancing like bullets never stopping but doing the right moves at all time. As soon as the boys came on a smile came across my face. I felt like a person in the olympics training so hard and then it all coming down to this! The dance went so fast although short and sharp is how I like it! As soon as I went of stage I felt like old boring Hannah again.

Cross Country Reflection.

Before the race:

Today was the RSS cross country for 2013. Before the race I had a mixed feelings in my tummy. I was excited, Scared. worried & panicked all at the same time! Year 4 girls Nick suddenly said line up & take all your clothes of then run across the finishing line but don't run over any people. I ran across to the starting line. Alright Nick said Jog on the spot alright now run all the way to me we did that the finally nick said alright on your marks get ready set go, we were off.

During the race:

I was trying to pace myself during the race I sprinted at the start to try & get past all the fast people. As I was running down the hill I could see Bella, Georgia & all the other fast people turing around & heading out of the school gate. Suddenly Ana passed me so I tried to keep up with her I did that for a while but the she started spiriting ahead. I then remembered about my goal poster it said that I wanted to  be able to spot all the fast people, I could still see Ana but she was ahead by about 10m. Yay I am entering school again. I could see the year 4 boys starting. Around another corner  and now I am running down the finishing line I could here my mum & Dad cheering for me. Stephen took a photo of me as I was at the very end of the finishing line.

After the race:

After the race I rushed over to dad to get my drink bottle he said well done Mum came over & gave me & gave me a hug. I was very puffed after the race & I had a saw shoulder. After I had had a big drink I went over to the finishing line to cheer other people on. It was great Cross Country & I think all the training paid off!

Swimming Sports

On Thursday Russell Street School was at the Lido waiting to give it their all at the swimming sports. We had to get to school early because we only had from 9.30am till 11.30am to get all of the races done. I entered the freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke 25m races. The people who were not so confident in the water entered the 15m widths.

I heard lots of people cheering for their house groups and friends. If I knew people, I would cheer for them, if I did not know people  I would just shout go Kiwi because Kiwi is my house group.

Suddenly I heard David say “All year 4 girls who entered freestyle, please come to the starting line.” Off I went, to the starting line, oh dear I was versing all the fast people. The whistle blew and my legs were shaking. The whistle meant get ready so I hopped onto the diving board. 3, 2, 1 the hooter went and I dived into the pool as fast as I could. I was telling myself over and over to remember to push the water hard so that I could feel my arms ache. I ended up coming 4th in freestyle and as I did I heard the  crowd go wild. They every one was cheering for me.

I felt a bit hungry after the race, I had some brain food. Suddenly I saw that the year 6 girls backstroke was about to start. Soon after the horn went, I got butterflies in my tummy.
The year 5s went next. Suddenly I heard David say “Year 4 girls backstroke year 4 backstroke”
I went to the starting line. The whistle blew and that meant get into the pool. I hopped in, wanting to start before everybody else. This time because it was backstroke and we had to hold onto the rails facing David. Off I went, it was really hard to concentrate, but it was nice when I heard my Mum and Dad cheering for me! Again I came 4th, it’s a pain when you do! Now I am waiting for the breastoke  race to start. I feel a bit scared. Year 4 girls David suddenly cries out. I get to the starting line. Go!I’m off. Ana passes me I go a bit faster and come... 4th. Oh dear.

Later on it was the fun part, the teachers race! The teachers were racing the Year 6s. On your marks get ready set go! The year 6s got a halfway head start. Then the teachers were off when the Year 6 girl was at the halfway point. “Go Ebony” I shout! Next was the fun part. James was swimming.  He gave the year 6 boy another head start and then he dove into the pool and beat the year 6 boy by a mile! I think he represented New Zealand . Yay the teachers won! They hopped out of the pool and wrapped a towel around their bodies. Soon after the teachers race had finished I heard Nic say, “Ok swimming sports is over please go and get dressed.” I did that and tried to do it fast!

After swimming sports we went to the Esplanade for lunch. After a few minutes of eating, I heard James say  that we could have a play on the playground. He also said that if a couple of teachers are helping the people that want to play on the flying fox, it's open. “You can go now” he said, and we rushed off. I ran to the flying fox with my friend Emma. We had to wait for a while until we were on the platform. I was a little bit scared because it was high and I had never been on the flying fox before. Suddenly it was my turn. Chris helped me on and gave me a push. Nic was at the bottom for when the flying fox was slowing down and he gave me a push just as I felt it slow down. After I had a go I went  to see my student teacher Olivia, somehow I had lost Emma.I asked Olivia if she wanted to have a go on the flying fox. She said “maybe” then we went for a walk in the green playground. Next we went on the big hollow tubes. It was a tough job spinning them with everybody falling over. I suddenly realized that James was saying something and a second later I saw everybody running to the sunny hot grassy spot where we had lunch about an hour ago. I went back to the place where I had put my bag. Stephen counted everybody up and then said, “Yup everybody is here lets walk to the bus.”

We walked to the bus. I was thinking “oh dear we have got another walk” but now the buses had parked outside the swimming pool area near the Esplanade.  I hopped onto the bus trying to push my way through to get a good seat at the back. I was not at the very back but I did get a good seat. It was a funny seat it was back to front! The ride back to school was fun lots of people were talking about their day. It was quite funny when Zac said, “Can we stop off at McDonald's!”

Just then the bus jerked to a stop in front of the school gates. I hopped off the bus and went back to class. Lunch time had not finished so we went outside to have a play. Soon the bell rang and we were back in class learning. I really enjoyed swimming sports, it was a great opportunity.
